Scrub the hidden data out of a PDF
A PDF carries personal data in places no reader shows by default: the document information fields (Title, Author, Subject, Keywords, Creator, Producer) and the creation and modification dates, plus an XMP metadata stream — an XML copy of the same, often naming the exact software that made the file. Drop a PDF here and this tool blanks every one of those fields, drops the XMP stream, removes every script and auto-action — on open, on close, on a page, behind a button, in a form field — and deletes any whole files tucked inside as attachments, then hands you a clean copy. Those four are ticked to begin with and each can be unticked. Two more are off until you ask for them: links out to the web together with launch actions, and the embedded font programs — that last one keeps the font name but makes the page draw differently on a machine where the face is not installed. Several PDFs can be dropped at once, and each is looked through and cleaned on its own. A file pinned to a page also loses the small icon that marked it. Apart from that and the two optional removals, the text, images, order and size of the pages stay as they were.
Private by design
Everything runs in your browser with the pdf-lib library, so your PDF is never uploaded to a server. That is the whole point of a privacy tool: the file you are trying to scrub does not have to leave your device to get scrubbed. It works offline, and the download you get back is the sanitized file.

What metadata does it remove?
The Document Information fields — Title, Author, Subject, Keywords, Creator and Producer — plus the creation and modification dates, the XMP metadata stream, every script and auto-run action (on open, on close, on a page, behind a button or in a form field), and any whole files embedded inside the PDF as attachments. Those four are ticked by default. Two more are not: removing links out to the web with their launch actions, and removing the embedded font programs.
Does it change the pages or content?
The text, images, order and size of the pages stay exactly as they were. A default run removes the hidden metadata, every auto-run action and any files embedded as attachments; a file pinned to a page also loses the small icon that marked it. The two optional boxes do reach the page: removing links takes the clickable areas away, and removing the embedded fonts leaves the page to be drawn with whatever font the reader has installed.
Is my PDF uploaded anywhere?
No. The sanitizing happens entirely in your browser with pdf-lib, so your file never leaves your device. It works offline and the cleaned copy is downloaded straight to you.
