Merging is a view of the full PDF editor rather than a tool of its own, which means the things that usually follow a merge are already on screen. If the joined document needs a watermark, page numbers, a signature or a redaction, add it now; if it needs to be smaller, greyscale, password-locked or laid out for printing, that is on the Save screen. Nothing has to be downloaded and uploaded somewhere else to finish the job.
Files, not just pages
Once more than one document is open, the page list can be read either way. The file view lists the documents themselves — name, page count, drag one and all of its pages move together — and puts them in order by name A–Z or Z–A, or by which file was written most recently. It also carries the two settings that only mean something between one file and the next: a blank page after every file, or only after a file with an odd number of pages, so each document starts on the front of a sheet when you print double-sided; and a bookmark for each file, which gives the saved PDF a contents entry per document and keeps the bookmarks that document already had underneath it.
Nothing is uploaded
Every page is read, edited and written in your browser with pdf.js and pdf-lib. Your file never leaves your device, and the editor keeps working offline once it has loaded.
Frequently asked questions
How many PDFs can I merge?
As many as you like — add them all at once or a few at a time, and each new file joins the end of the page list. Everything happens in your browser, so the practical limit is your own device's memory rather than an upload cap.
Can I change the page order after merging?
Yes, and that is the point. Every page is a thumbnail you can drag; you can also rotate, duplicate or delete any of them before saving, so a merge that came out in the wrong order is fixed here rather than in another tool. With several files open you can also switch the list to a file view and move, order or remove a whole document at a time.
Do the bookmarks in my files survive the merge?
Yes, as long as "A bookmark for each file" is left on in the file view. The saved PDF gets one contents entry per document, and the bookmarks each document already had are kept underneath its entry, still pointing at the right pages. Switch it off and only the first document keeps its outline.
Can each file start on a new sheet for double-sided printing?
In the file view, "Blank page between files" adds a blank page after every file, or only after a file with an odd number of pages — which is the one that matters, because an odd file leaves the next document starting on the back of a sheet. Choosing None takes those blank pages back out again.
Are my PDFs uploaded?
No. They are read and joined entirely in your browser with pdf-lib. Nothing is sent to a server, so confidential files stay on your machine.
