Remove metadata from a photo before you share it
Photos from a phone or camera carry hidden EXIF metadata — the camera make and model, the date and time, and often your exact GPS location. This tool removes it two ways. The lossless strip deletes the Exif, XMP, IPTC and comment blocks directly from a JPEG’s bytes without re-compressing the image, so the picture stays pixel-for-pixel identical. Only the rotation flag is kept, so a portrait phone photo does not come out lying on its side; the rest of the metadata is gone. The canvas re-encode redraws the image to a fresh PNG or JPEG, which drops all metadata and works for any format.

What’s the difference between the lossless strip and re-encoding?
The lossless strip removes the metadata blocks from the JPEG’s bytes without touching the image data, so there’s zero quality loss. Re-encoding redraws the picture (lossy for JPEG, lossless for PNG) and works on any image format.
Does this remove GPS location from a photo?
Yes. Both methods drop the GPS coordinates along with the rest of the EXIF, so the shared file no longer reveals where the photo was taken. The lossless strip keeps one field, the rotation flag, which says nothing about where or when.
Will the photo look different after stripping?
With the lossless strip, no — the image bytes are untouched, and the rotation flag is kept so a photo that was upright stays upright. Re-encoding to JPEG is lossy and may change the image very slightly; PNG re-encoding is lossless.
Is my photo uploaded anywhere?
