Print any PDF as a folded booklet
Saddle-stitch booklets are made by printing pages two-up on both sides of a sheet, stacking the sheets, folding the stack in half and stapling along the spine. For the result to read in order, the pages have to be rearranged first — the first page shares a sheet with the last page, the second page with the second-to-last, and so on. Drop a PDF here and this tool does that imposition for you: it pads the page count to a multiple of four with blanks, reorders the pages into saddle-stitch sequence, and lays two of them side by side on each landscape sheet. Download the result, print it double-sided, then fold and staple.
Private and client-side
Everything runs in your browser with pdf-lib, so your PDF is never uploaded to a server and the tool keeps working offline. Pages are embedded and placed as vectors rather than rasterized, so text and graphics stay sharp. Choose the booklet size by the page you end up holding — A5 printed on A4, A4 on A3, Half-Letter on Letter, Letter on Tabloid — or keep the size your pages already are. Long documents can be folded in groups of a few sheets instead of one unfoldable wad, and right-to-left documents can be bound with the spine on the right. What each page draws is placed exactly, and filled-in form entries, comments and stamps (signatures added as stamps included) are drawn into their pages first, so they print as they looked. Links and bookmarks do not reach the booklet: they point at pages that the booklet lays out again. The title, author and attached files of the document do.
Frequently asked questions
Why did my page count change?
Saddle-stitch folding only works when the number of pages is a multiple of four, because every folded sheet carries four pages — two on the front and two on the back. If your document does not divide evenly, the tool adds one to three blank pages so the fold lines up. The blanks land at the natural back of the booklet.
How do I print the booklet correctly?
Print double-sided and set the duplex option to flip on the short edge, so the back of each sheet lines up head-to-head with the front. Then stack the sheets in order, fold the whole stack in half, and staple along the crease. If your printer is single-sided, print the odd output pages first, reload the stack, then print the even pages.
How do I check the page order before printing?
The tool previews both sides of the first sheet as they will actually print, and lists every sheet — front and back, left half and right half, blanks included — in print order. Sheet 1 always carries the last page next to the first; that is what saddle stitching does.
Is my PDF uploaded anywhere?
No. The whole imposition happens locally in your browser with pdf-lib. Your file never leaves your device and the tool keeps working offline once loaded.
