Pictures of the pages, or the pictures inside them
"PDF to images" means two different things, and this tool does both. Pictures of the pages renders each page as you see it. The images stored inside pulls out the photographs and figures that were embedded in the document, at their own pixel size and with nothing else on them — which is what you want when you are recovering a figure from a report rather than screenshotting it.
One TIFF for a whole document
TIFF is the format that holds every page of a document in a single file, which is what archives, fax gateways and scanning software expect. Tick "One TIFF holding every page" and that is what you get; untick it for one TIFF per page. The pages are Deflate-compressed and carry the resolution you chose, so they print at the right size.
Frequently asked questions
Can I convert only some pages?
Yes — type a page range like "1-3, 5, 8" to export just those pages; leave it blank to convert the whole PDF. With several PDFs loaded, each one keeps its own page range: click a file to show its pages and pick from them.
What resolution are the images?
You choose. The resolution starts at 150 dpi and offers 72 up to 600, or any number you type; the pixel size of each image is shown beside it as you change it, so you can see what you are getting before you save.
Can I get the original photos out of the PDF?
Yes. Switch to "The images stored inside" and every raster image embedded in the file is pulled out at its own pixel size, instead of a rendering of the page it sits on. A page made only of text or vector drawings holds no such images, and the tool says so rather than handing you an empty download.
Are my files uploaded?
No. Rendering happens entirely in your browser.
