Lay one PDF over another
PDF Overlay stamps a second PDF onto your document as a background or foreground layer. Drop in a base PDF and a stamp PDF — a company letterhead, a "DRAFT" mark exported as PDF, a scanned seal or a signed page — and your document appears with the stamp sitting on it. Drag the stamp wherever it belongs, pull a corner to resize it (it keeps its shape), turn it with a slider, fade it to the strength you want, and choose whether it sits in front of your text or behind it. It can go on every page, only the first, only the last, or a page list like 1-3, 8. The stamp is embedded as a vector layer rather than a picture, so lines and text stay crisp.
Private and client-side
Everything runs in your browser with pdf-lib — neither the base nor the stamp is ever uploaded to a server, so contracts, letterheads and internal templates stay on your device. Pages are re-embedded rather than rasterized, keeping text selectable and vector art sharp. Because a background cannot be inserted beneath an existing page after the fact, the "behind" option rebuilds each page by drawing the stamp first and your original page on top, preserving the base page size.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between the "on top" and "behind" layers?
On top draws the stamp as a foreground layer over your content — ideal for watermarks and seals that should sit visibly above the text. Behind places the stamp as a background beneath your content — ideal for letterheads and form templates. The behind option rebuilds each page with the stamp underneath, so your original page still shows on top.
Can I put the stamp somewhere other than the middle?
Yes. The page is shown with your stamp on it — drag it anywhere, pull a corner to resize it (it keeps its shape), and turn it with the slider. Arrow keys nudge it a step at a time, and buttons snap it back to the centre, to its own size, or to fill the page. The preview underneath runs the real conversion, so what you see is the file you get. You can also stamp only the first page, only the last page, or a page list like 1-3, 8.
Can I stamp several documents at once?
Yes. Drop as many PDFs as you like into the first box. The stamp, and its position, size and opacity, are set once on the first document and applied to all of them — the position is a fraction of the page, so it lands in the same spot whatever size the pages are. They come back as one .zip, each keeping its own name.
Can the stamp be a multi-page PDF?
Yes. Under "Your stamp file has several pages", choose "Use its first page on all of them" to repeat one design across the whole document, or "Page 1 on page 1, page 2 on page 2, and so on" to match them page for page. When matching page for page and the stamp has fewer pages than the base, "Keep using its last page for the rest" (on by default) repeats its last page; untick it and the remaining pages are left unstamped.
Is my PDF uploaded anywhere?
No. The overlay is composited locally in your browser with pdf-lib. Both files stay on your device, nothing is sent to a server, and the tool keeps working offline.
