What is clap text?

Clap text is the social-media meme style where a clap emoji (or any other emoji) is dropped between every word to add πŸ‘ dramatic πŸ‘ emphasis. The written form copies a spoken one: the emphasis clap, a clap on every word to drive a point home, comes from Black women's speech β€” the comedian Robin Thede brought it to a wider television audience β€” and on Twitter it became the πŸ‘ between words. This tool takes whatever you type, splits it into words, and joins them with the emoji of your choice so you can copy the result straight into a post, comment, or chat. Extra spaces are collapsed automatically, so the output always looks clean.

How to use it

Type or paste your sentence, pick an emoji from the list (clap is the default), and the emphasized version appears instantly below. Hit Copy to grab it. Everything happens live in your browser as you type β€” there is no button to wait on and no server round-trip.

Frequently asked questions

Can I use an emoji other than the clap?

Yes. Choose from clap, fire, 100, sparkles, raised hands, pointing hand, heart, and skull. The picked emoji is inserted between each word instantly.

Does it add an emoji before the first or after the last word?

No. The emoji only goes between words, matching the classic meme style. A single word is returned unchanged.

Can the claps have a skin tone?

Yes, for the emoji that carry one β€” the clapping hands, the raised hands and the pointing hand. Pick a tone from the Skin tone menu; for an emoji with no skin tones the menu is switched off and says why.

Can I see every skin tone at once, or share the clap?

Yes. Under the result, β€œEvery tone at once” prints the chosen emoji as the default clap, the rainbow and each skin tone, one under the other, each with its own Copy button; an emoji with no skin tones has only the one version, so the list is not shown. β€œRainbow (every tone in turn)”, last in the Skin tone menu, puts the tones in the gaps one after another, lightest first. Copy link carries the text, the emoji and the tone, and where the browser offers a share sheet, β€œShare…” hands the clap to it.

Does it work in Korean or other languages, and what happens to line breaks?

It works in any language that puts spaces between words, Korean included, because it splits your text at the spaces rather than at letters. Every run of spaces, tabs or line breaks becomes one gap with the emoji in it, so the result is always a single line; the count under the result gives the lines in and out, so you can see when that happened.
